Free wild-camping spot in Parc de Montjuïc, Barcelona

We found the perfect urban wild-camping spot in Parc de Montjuïc and parked for free, Just 4km from Barcelona’s city centre.

EDIT 01/10/2018: Please be aware, some travellers have reported van break-ins on Carrer del Polvori. Whilst this is a convenient free spot to stay it seems that it might not be the safest so if you choose to stay here please be vigilant and ensure your valuables are removed or locked away when leaving your van.

We had heard horror stories of wild-camping in Barcelona so were keen to find somewhere we could happily leave our van. We were so grateful when we found this free parkup.

Carrer del Polvori has the perfect balance of being a quiet road with little traffic passing yet there is always a buzz about the place thanks to the athletics track and climbing wall located in a tunnel just meters from our parkup.

Parc de Montjuïc  seems a popular spot with other campers, from our van we could see another five vans. Here are just some of the campervans we saw parked up within a minutes walk from our spot:

The climbing wall in an old tunnel attracts a few visitors, especially at the weekend. If you are going to Barcelona at the weekend, parking spaces near the tunnel are harder to find.

We enjoyed five incident free days of parking here. It was the perfect place to call home while we enjoyed exploring the city by bike and by metro (the closest station was just under a 10 min walk away). Would certainly recommend to anyone looking to visit the city in their camper.
