VW T5 Bluebell

VW T5 Transporter LWB – Campervan conversion

The conversion:

Insulation: Bluebell is fully insulated with Diall Recycled Plastic Loft Insulation, covered with Foil faced bubble substrate insulation to create a vapour barrier, resisting damp and condensation.

Carpet Lining: The van is lined with high quality Veltrim Van Lining Carpet. Veltrim is hard wearing and is secured with high-temperature spray adhesive. This provides an extra layer of insulation and the light grey colour gives a smooth bright finish.

12V Electrics: Leisure battery is fitted under the drivers seat which is charged via a split charge relay system. This automatically charges the leisure battery whilst driving, ensuring the starter motor battery is always fully charged. Enabling you to spend time ‘off-grid’ wild camping with no need to worry about running out of power.

Lighting: There are six 12V LED lights and a string of LED fairy lights, these are low energy and provide plenty of bright light which can be switched on in pairs to give different lighting levels.

Control Panel: A control panel fitted to one end of the kitchen features light switches, battery levels monitor, USB charger, 12V cigarette socket & 240V sockets.

240v Hookup: 240V hookup to charge the leisure battery on site and run all the electrics from. This is wired through a consumer unit fuse box for safety, the same system as you would have in a house.

Kitchen: The kitchen is built from a combination of reclaimed oak, planed whitewood and tongue & groove to give a beautiful exterior whilst still keeping down weight. Each length of reclaimed oak has been individually selected and worked to bring out wood’s natural texture and tone. The wood is finished with beeswax which protects and seals it. The cupboard/drawer handles and hinges are hand forged and again finished with beeswax.

The reclaimed oak has also been used to create extra touches like our handmade mirror and spice rack above the sink, giving you extra storage and adding to the homely feel of Bluebell.

The stove is a beautiful vintage Flavel Radford 2 ring gas stove and grill from 1974. This is new old stock and there are no signs of wear or age. The stove runs from a small Calor gas bottle, stored in a cupboard underneath. This will easily keep you cooking for a few weeks per bottle. A mandatory gas dropout hole in the cupboard provides added safety.

We did not included a fridge, however there is space to hold a fridge/electric cool box in one of the kitchen cupboards, with a 12V socket which is wired in ready should you need it.

Water: A 25 litre jerry can stored under the stove supplies fresh running water via an electric pump. Waste water drains from the sink to outside. There is a fitting under the van to connect up a short length hose into a waste water tank if required.

Seating/Bed: Comfortable u-shaped seating creates a spacious open living area for eating/relaxing/socialising and the optional table gives you extra worktop space for dining, putting drinks etc. When not in use, the table can be stored in the purpose built stand at the end of the kitchen, behind the drivers seat.

The bed simply folds out to create a small double (Queen 1.9×1.2 metres), by pulling across the built in slats and rearranging the seat cushions.

There is masses of storage under the bed which can be accessed from above by lifting the lightweight ply lids or from the back of the van. Perfect for an extended trip abroad.

Floor: The flooring is lightweight, easy to clean wood effect vinyl flooring, in keeping with the rustic cosy style.
